The Flowers name has been synonymous with fresh seafood in the Lowcountry for over 100 years. In 1922, John Flowers, Sr. opened the Edisto Oyster Factory at the end of what is still known as Oyster Factory Road. He and his two sons harvested oysters in the colder months. In the warmer month, they trawled for shrimp off the coast of Edisto. Their shrimp boat was docked on Big Bay Creek. Captain Steve Flowers, Jr. a grandchild of John Sr., continued the family business as a commercial shrimper for 43 years. Scot Flowers, his son, continues the family legacy, now serving fresh seafood at his 2nd Edisto restaurant, High Tides at Dockside.
